Shit is getting serious. Today after a massive escalation in the intensity and violence of the protests it seems that the revolution might just become a reality. While this is, of course, really good news for the people of Egypt one has to wonder who is going to fill the power vacuum left as a result.
The government of Egypt has responded by TURNING OF THE INTERNET. This is devastating to the ability of the protesters to plan, organise and communicate. The American government has already begun work on an internet "kill switch" that will make it law that when it sees fit the government may discontinue the internet. The impact of switching off the internet in Egypt just shows you the consequences of passing such a law.
Its really important to remember that the protesters are just students, businessmen, teachers, lawyers, basically everyday Joe Soaps that they have been forced to violence. People are dying for a cause here, normal citizens armed with pebbles are getting shot.
We have it lucky

Rodeo Monkey
What chance does anybody really have when a monkey can make Arnold Schwarzenegger look like a whiny Mary Poppins? Seriously it's a monkey riding a bull but what would be even more impressive is if they taught the monkey to ride the killer whales at Sea World. He would even get to wear a tiny wet suit.

20-year-old Mustafa Reda Mahmoud Abdelfattah is said to have been killed by a shot to his heart. SkyNews confirmed this report.
A second protester has also been killed according to Reuters.
Police have started firing live ammo at the crowd along with tear gas. Now the sun is setting and the crowds are still out.

Call to Arms
Guys I just have to get something off my chest.
The year started off really strong and everybody seemed motivated and excited by the prospect of making lasting changes and cementing ourselves as the year that forced the school to start taking its students seriously.
This enthusiasm has died off partly because of the schools response to the formation of the SRC and our own apathy. It is important for all of us to remain focussed and see the bigger picture.
This is not going to be easy and we are going to have to work harder than anybody at the school ever has but the rewards are definitely worth it. This is much bigger than just committees and useless meetings.
I am sorry i have let everybody down so badly and just want to let you guys know that i will be 110% committed to making this work.

Check this kid out, Balls of Steel
Riots broke out in Egypt yesterday spurred on by the successful revolution in Tunisia last week. This is history in the making, the government has forcefully shut down most access to social media but word is still getting out.
Next time you having a bad day in class just remember that you didn't have to throw rocks at riot police. Historically students are at the forefront of revolutions and our biggest problems are nothing in comparison to what students around the world are going through for the simple freedoms we take for granted.

Monday Night Adventure
Mondays seem to becoming the most interesting night of my week whether i plan for it to be or not. Last night was either some massive cosmic slap in the face or Jesus is really having a field day seeing what he can come up with next.
After getting lamb kebabs from the Beef Noodle Restaurant in Chinatown we filled up with petrol at a garage in Bez Valley across the road from Ellis Park. The area is quite dodgy but it was the shortest route home and my low petrol light had been making me feel guilty the entire day.
God looked down and saw the slot which usually holds the small grey plastic card was empty and was pleased. I on the other hand was instantly filled with cold dread and visuals of a million worst case scenarios. Out of the darkness of the situation appeared a knight in a bedazzled shirt.
He seemed sincere and I was touched by how affected he seemed by my predicament. He told me he was the owner of Voodoo Lounge and that his brother had a club just down the road where we could get the money I needed. After following him through the dark streets for about ten minutes we found ourselves in front of an old apartment building and I knew that something was wrong. He asked for my cell phone so that he could phone his brother to let his business partner know that we were going to collect money out of the "petty cash". With a smile he told me he'd be back soon and entered the building.
That was the last time I saw him or my cell phone.
What a bitch.

Once again an awesome party with awesome people. Whoever decided to have a jumping castle deserves definite kudo's because I laughed so hard i split the corners of my lips. 10 points to the guy walking around in his underwear, you asked me if i wanted to see your bits like 9 times and that takes determination. Also whoever smacked me in the head with a bottle while we were tumbling off the jumping castle you left me an awesome bump and a better story.
Thanks Andrew for an A+ party, you will just have to turn 21 again next year.

Sphere Hotel
We have seen some most amazing structural designs in the recent past but the ‘Sphere Hotel,’ to be located somewhere between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, will surpass all of it! Visitors to the hotel will access it by an aerial route as it’ll be constructed on an artificial island, about 300 meters away from the beach. Golf Day

The Golf Day is currently being organized by me, Jake, Kerry, Tariro and Ashler. The date has been set for the 15th March 2011 at the Glendower Golf Course. If everybody can begin to try organize as many four balls as possible that would be greatly appreciated. The tickets will sell for around R700 each.
